Lepton Highlanders “A” Win the U11’s Tournament Cup Final

Both Lepton Highlanders U11’s A teams narrowly missed playing each other in their own tournament final, Leptons “A team 2” were unfortunately knocked out on penalties by Longcroft Lions in their group stages semi final, however Lepton Highlanders “A team 1” managed to de-rail Dewsbury Rangers bid to win the competition by knocking them out of their group semi final after extra time on penalties, the final was then Longcroft Lions V Lepton Highlanders A1 to settle.

Longcroft were the first to score in the final, the goal came from header received from a corner kick  by the longcroft player putting the ball beyond the reach of the Lepton keeper, both teams raised their game in the final and played football to a very high standard but Lepton had more possession and with much determination Jordan Letherland was rewarded a much deserved goal in the second half to make it 1-1 at normal time.

Extra time again ended level at 1-1 so it was down to dreaded penalties – again! Leptons penalty takers in order were Adam Daffern, Callum Scott, Fasil Ali, Jordan Letherland, and Patrick Clarke Spears.

Despite the pressure Adam Daffern the 1st penalty taker for Lepton confidently stepped up and scored from the spot to put the pressure on  Longcroft, Lepton Highlanders keeper Will Harris then went on to make 3 good saves from 5 as opposed Loncrofts also very good keeper 1 save from 5  allowing Highlanders to lift the cup.
